Pedal Away Polio Announcements

Dear Participants,

Thank you for supporting our event - Pedal Away Polio Cycling Expedition, which will be held this Saturday, 18 September 2010. Below are some important points which you should take note of:

1. Venue

Sunway Pyramid Blue Entrance (Opposite Sunway Lagoon Main Entrance).

2. Registration

Registration starts at 7.30a.m. and closes at 8.20a.m. sharp.
The briefing for participants starts at 8.30a.m. Participants who do not attend the briefing will NOT be allowed to join the expedition. Refunds will not be given.

Upon registration, you will be provided with a T-shirt, Power Bar and Ride Number.
Goodie Bag and Certificate of Participation will be given at the end of the event when you return the Ride Number.

3. Car park

The nearest car park would be Car Park C, next to the Sunway Pyramid Blue Entrance.

4. Baggage Counter

Baggage left at our baggage counter is at your own risk. Your baggage will be identified by your Ride Number.

Disclaimer: We will not be held liable for any loss or damages to any of your left baggage.

5. Bicycle Parking Area

BIcycles parked at the Bicycle Parking area is at your own risk. Only participants and crew are allowed into this area.
Collection of bicycles will be identified by your Ride Number.

6. Others

Seasonal cyclist are advised to take the lead of the expedition.If you are here for leisure cycling, kindly allow the seasonal cyclist to start off first.

Pedal Away Polio, organized by Rotaract Club of Taylor’s University College, is a fund-raising cycling expedition, aims to channel every dollar raised to Rotary International PolioPlus Fund. It is a Rotary’s volunteer arm of the global partnership dedicated to eradicate polio globally through the immunization campaigns.

What is Polio?
• A crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease, polio (poliomyelitis) still strikes children mainly under the age of five in countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
• Polio can cause paralysis and sometimes death. Because there is no cure for polio, the best protection is prevention through immunization shots.

Polio might be a stranger to most of you all but with every effort you spent in making this event a success, a child can be protected against this disease for life with a vaccination for as little as US$0.60.

Important notice
Your support is vital in this fund raising effort. You can help in many ways:

a) Join us as a cyclist (preferably with own bicycles, to save our costs)

b) Spread the words!

c) Drop by at Sunway Pyramid Blue entrance from 10 am - 1 pm (We are doing a fundraising activity there)
b) Volunteers to help us out as crews on the event day (18 Sept 2010). We are in need of marshals, motorcyclist escorts, photographer, cameraman, goodie bags distributor, crews at check point Kinrara rest area and many more!

As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk. JOIN US NOW!
